6/10 Advocacy Super Page: Men/Women Equality, Wage Gap, Minimum Wage, and Joe Biden

Here’s a page with all of the advocacy I did today over on Twitter in one place.

Women should be equal to men. I recognize my privilege as a man to be more likely to get a higher paying job or a promotion than my female counterparts. And that is wrong. Men and women should be equally treated, employed, and paid. End the wage gap.

Raise the federal minimum wage to $15/hr. The standard $7.25/hr (set in 2009) has not been updated to meet inflation and is thereby almost an non-livable wage. To all the restaurants and other establishments that pay sub-minimum wage and force your workers to rely on tips to get to the $7.25/hr rate, get your head out of your capitalist butt. Pay your workers $7.25/hr BEFORE tips.

“Equal opportunity employers” CANNOT pay sub minimum wages to disabled people, POCs, LGBTQ people, women, and other marginalized groups. They must also provide opportunities to women, disabled people, POCs, LGBTQ people, and others to level up in your company versus giving all higher positions to straight, able-bodied white men.

I am officially endorsing Joe Biden (joebiden.com) for President of the United States. You may not like him, but need real leadership. We need Trump out. Vote blue all across the board. Use your voice, and your vote. To learn more about how to vote and to check your registration status, go to vote.org.

In summary,

  • Men and women are equal, and should be treated as such.
  • Pay women the same as men.
  • Raise the minimum wage to $15/hr.
  • Stop paying sub minimum wage to marginalized groups.
  • Stop forcing workers to rely on tips.
  • If you call yourself an equal opportunity employer, you must make efforts to create equal opportunities and pay equally.
  • Vote blue in November. We need Trump out.

Thank you.
