This is an archive of my 02/06/2021 thread on ending books. The thread can be viewed here.
Ending a book is so bittersweet. I’m at the point in #SevanAGayDisRom where I know I have, at max, 10 pages left to write before it’s over and I can’t buy it any more time. And it’s so bittersweet. (thread)

Some things I think non-writers really don’t see is that we pour every ounce of our beings into our books. For months on end, we craft our characters, plot, and setting from mere ideas. We cry, laugh, and grieve with our characters. They become people. We make them people.

And then we craft their lives, throwing in all the twists and turns that you enjoy as readers. We make them so realistic and have so much fun doing all the little things that readers may not even notice.

And then we hit the stage where I am now. We’ve thrown in all the plot twists, and all that’s left to do is tie it all together.

Then, the writing is done. We say goodbye to these characters, this plot; then move on to the next one after we do all the behind the scenes stuff for the one we just wrote to get it in the hands of readers, who we want desperately to read it.

And for me, I don’t know what I’ll do next. And that hurts me even more. Because after I end this one, I have no clue what I will write next. Sevan has been everything I always wanted to write. But I don’t want to stop writing and publishing after it’s done.

So I’m going to cherish these last ten pages and all the grueling work that comes after, because Sevan is quite literally my baby. And I want you all to read and enjoy it after it’s out.

I got so emotional writing this. My books mean so much to me. As I said, we authors pour every ounce of ourselves into our books, and all we want is for them to turn out good.

Thank you for reading this far through. Sevan: A Gay, Disabled Teen Romance comes out on June 5, 2021, but will be available for Kindle preorder on March 5. I hope, once you read it, you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
