Hey my fellow guys, gals, and non-binary pals! It’s June 1, at midnight!! You know what that means!! It’s PRIDE MONTH!!
If you’re coming out today, just came out, are coming out later this month, or have been out for a while: Congratulations. Welcome to the community! We support you!
Now, this year’s Pride is going to look a little bit different (cough Coronavirus cough), but it’s still a month of celebration and remembrance for those before us. And it’s a celebration of the future.
We still have a long way to go in terms of acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community, but we’ve come very far from the Stonewall Riots that happened on June 28 in 1969.
We need to first and foremost, urge the House to pass the Equality Act. Then, in the 32 states where it is legal, we must end the “gay panic defense.” Join me in taking action and standing up for what we deserve.
Remember, you always have a space in this community. We support you. I love you. Happy Pride!
